For the fifth consecutive year, CMS sixth and seventh grade students recently participated in the Annual National Geographic Geography Bee. There were three rounds of competition with the winner of Round 3 taking the qualifying test for the state competition to be held on March 30th.

 

Round 1 winners were as follows:  Purple Team – Mark Davis, Emily Enscoe, Kyle Robert, Nick Sawicki, Katelyn Sifuentes, and Matt Sychtysz;  Yellow Team – Jennifer Huynh, Matt Kile, Melanie O’Connell, Heather O’Connor, Arthur Palgi, Alex Piechota, and Joe Roberts;  Blue Team – Kate Culverhouse, Lucas McDiarmid, Brandyn Pelissier, and Evan Warner;  Green Team – Connor Adams, Stephanie Perez, Greg Pobieglo, and Dylan Swist.

 

Students all agreed that Round 2 questions were extremely difficult!  Winners of Round 2 were: Purple Team – Katelyn Sifuentes; Yellow Team – Joe Roberts; Blue Team – Lucas McDiarmid and Evan Warner; Green Team – Dylan Swist.

 

At the end of Round 3, there was a tie! Lucas McDiarmid and Evan Warner then participated in a tiebreaker session with Lucas qualifying to take the school test for the state competition. Incidentally, Lucas and Evan were also Team winners in sixth grade!

 

Lucas McDiarmid has taken the state test and we all wish him the best of luck!
