Congratulations go out to the following 7th grade music students for their acceptance into this year’s QVMEA music festival; for band, Lucas McDiarmid, Hannah Hulse, Emily Geoffrion, and Brett Kearney; and for chorus, Adalie Mercado, Zackary Fuller, Morgan LaBelle, Deonna Gamache, and Destiny Gamache.

Students from both the 5th grade and 6th/7th grade choruses entertained a crowd with Christmas carols while awaiting the arrival of the Santa Train this past December. Also, the 5th grade chorus had the opportunity to present a Christmas program to members of the Senior Center organization on December 14th. Both performances were terrific! Also in December, the Annual Festival of Choruses and Festival of Bands concerts were held at Palmer High School. The concerts were great, and our students all did an excellent job.

Mark your calendars: On Thursday, May 3rd, the CMS Music Department will present its Annual Spring Concert. Be on the look out for a few changes, a few surprises, and the debut public performance of the department’s newest musical ensemble!

Show Choir News: The CMS Show Choir year is off to a great start. Students have been practicing hard and the program is coming along well. Through a voting process, the students have chosen a name for their new ensemble: CONVERSation. The group looks forward to the completion and performance of this year’s show entitled: “Believe in Yourself”!

During second quarter on the Red Team, science classes have continued to work with different kinds of energy. We have explored radiant, sound, and thermal energies and how they can change from one form to another. We had a special visit from Mr. Callahan, Mikey’s dad, who shared with us his “Veggie Car”. He explained to us how his car runs on either vegetable oil or diesel fuel and the importance of using alternative energies to help our planet. His Power Point and the visit to see the actual car was both informative and interesting.

In reading the students have been working on the IIM research method to create various projects on Wolves. We have used books, computers, magazines, and videos to find out as much as we can about wolves’ habitats, pups, eating habits, hunting habits, behaviors, physical features, and pack life.
